Back in Action
I’m back, hopefully permanently this time. The floods were more devastating than you could ever imagine. So many without homes, including my mother. God spared me and the kids this time from that sort of loss. It’s a bittersweet thing, though, since so many in my neighborhood have nothing. I only live a block from my mom.
On my mind today, aside from hopefully moving forward with my life with out any more tragedies, is thanking those who’ve helped all of us in our little town, and especially the people who have helped my brother and I with our mom’s mess. I’m thinking of giving them a little token of our appreciation. I’d like to make little personalized gifts for them to show them how much it means to us. I just with I could thank each of the hundreds of volunteers, red cross and salvation army, who brought us water and hot meals each day as we were cleaning out homes, pulling up carpet, tossing furniture, in an effort to dry things as quickly as possible so we could save as much of all the structures as possible.
I guess the thank you’s we said along the way will have to be enough. I personally plan to pay it forward if I can when someone else is in need.
