I saw these mentioned on Tonia’s blog so I had to pass them along. HollYarns and This Kitten Knits are both having contests. This Kitten Knits is having her blogiversary and Hollyarns wants to know how you learned to knit, when, and who taught you.
Following Tonia’s lead, here’s my story. But it’s pretty boring.
I taught myself to knit, mostly from internet tutorials. I’ve piddled with it for a couple of years, but got serious about learning when I got my first drop spindle in Nov of 2006 and my wheel given to me in Feb of this year.
Now I knit all the time. I’ve made 2 scarves and three pairs of socks and spun all the fiber I can get my hands on. I’m also going to make all new dish towels and dish clothes for my new house.
If anyone would like to send one my way, my kitchen is done in dark reds, creams, and hunter green gingerbread houses and gingerbread people! Bet you couldn’t guess that!
I love the home remodeling shows. Today it was one of the yard makeover ones. First, I want to know, where do these people get all their money? Today’s couple had a landscaping budget of $40,000. I don’t make that in a year.
And the put in an outdoor kitchen. Fancy built in grill, a sink, a little built in fridge, a bar for everyone to sit around. And here I am in my falling down house. They had better cabinetry in there outdoor kitchen than I have in the kitchen we use every day. Good thing I don’t like to cook. What to these people do for a living?
I’m looking for a reasonably priced mini van to start out with. I have my eyes on one, but it doesn’t have the van rack. I wanted the rack on top for additional storage space for luggage in case I decide to travel to fairs that are far enough away for an overnight stay. I hate to spend too much money modifying a used van, but with another car payment already, an new van is way out of reach for my.
How do those of you that sell at fairs and festivals transport your stuff? Should I just look for a small closed in trailer and put a hitch on my car? I take candles, too, and those are pretty heavy when they are boxed up.
I love auctions. I had a blast at one today. It was so nice to be out of the house and out from under the stress right now of moving and fighting daily with my daughter over it. I’m sick to my stomach constantly over it all, and dread it when her bedroom door opens because I know what’s going to happen.
Anyway, there was a doll collector liquidating at the sale today. I collect Barbies and have since I was little. I scored big! I got the Romeo and Juliet set for $10.00. My mom immediately asked me if I was going to sell them on eBay. Hah! Those are mine! Mine I tell you. The Swiss Army couldn’t tear those away from me. Do the Swiss have an army?
