We have a mixture of rain and sleet pouring down on us right now. Tonight it’s supposed to turn to snow with an accumulation of 6-10 inches by the afternoon tomorrow. I hate it when we have weather like this and the kids are with their dad. I don’t like for them to be that far away during a winter storm warning.
I’ve already asked him if the storm does hit, to bring them home tomorrow. He comes to get them and I have to go to him to pick them up, and he lives 45 minutes away. Ex is a much better, more confident driver on snow, so I’d rather he bring them home.
Little Man had a basketball game today. His team is undefeated. They only have seven players on their team, so I’m going to have to put my trip next weekend for Christmas at my grandmother’s house off until his game is over next Saturday. They already know one player won’t be there, and it’s their star player. I like to teach my kids the importance of honoring their commitments and being a team player. If they lose, I’d rather it be because they didn’t play well than for the team to ruin their record because they had to fortit because they didn’t have enough players. So we will probably miss dinner, but be there in plenty of time for presents and desert.
I trekked out this morning in the snow, sleet and rain to mail the last three packages for the week from my Etsy store and eBay sales. Hopefully the Post office gets them there on time. It’s not the best time of the year to mail packages with deadlines.
I also had to run to the yarn shop and replace some of my circular needles. Crazy Maddie, our nutso Yorkie, seems to have an Addi Turbo knitting needle fetish, and since I’m a yarn and needle snob, I had to replace them with Addi’s. With the storm warnings out, I was the only person there. Very nice to have that much one-on-one in my favorite store! They got in the most wonderful yarn I’ve seen. It’s alpaca/angora raised right here in Indiana by a young lady who started it as a 4-H project. It took off for her, so now she has it processed and is selling it. It’s fingering weight, natural brown. I’m going to make the most luscious socks ever with it! I really want to toss aside the Reynald’s Soft Sea Wool and Panda Wool sock projects I’ve already started and cast this yarn on, but I’ll try for now to resist temptation. I’ll have to hide the yarn deep in my stash to keep it from yelling out my name! And it was only $19.50 for 100 grams! Trekking or Opal isn’t but a dollar or two less, and I think the Soft Sea Wool was pretty close to that price, too. I could cast on the new needles and leave the Panda Wool on the puppy knicked Addi’s. Must…..Resist……..Urge………To knit alpace/angora yarn……..Must….
On the wheel is a merino/mohair blend that will be worsted weight yarn. I’m spinning it in it’s natural color so I can dye it as yarn. It’s very yummy. The yarn hasn’t told me what color it wants to be yet, though.
This storm is supposed to bring Thunder Snow tonight. Yep, that’s exactly the term the weather man is using. Only in Indiana do we have Thunder Snow.
